Obituary for Ruth A. Mellott (Ott)
Ruth A. Mellott, 93, of Orrstown, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Brookview Health Care Center in Chambersburg.
Born Thursday, January 30, 1930 in Orrstown, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Anna M. Bricker Ott.
Ruth was a 1948 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. She was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God. She was Secretary and taught their Berean Sunday School Class, and she taught the Primary Department Sunday School Class.
She retired in 1998 from the Beistle Company in Shippensburg as a Secretary and Administrative Assistant after 45 years of service.
Ruth was a member of the Shippensburg AARP #2525 and their membership recorder, and a member and Treasurer of The Golden Age Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Laurel A. Ott, Orrstown, and Susan G. (husband Warren) Robinson, Newburg; one granddaughter, Jennifer R. Ott, Orrstown.
In addition to her parents, and she was preceded in death by her husband, Foster A. “Mike” Mellott who passed away September 12, 1987; and two brothers, her twin Roy A. Ott, who passed away July 20, 1944, and Raymond W. Ott, who passed away March 16, 2016.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shippensburg First Church of God, with Pastor Gary Hornbaker officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg First Church of God, 121 East King Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
