Obituary for Rhoda I. Swanger (Hummer)
Rhoda I. Swanger, 81, of Spring Run, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born Friday, November 10, 1939 in Chambersburg, PA. Rhoda was a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary (Helm) Hummer.
She retired from Shippensburg University where she worked in food services for over 27 years. She was a member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, Shippensburg Senior Center and the Golden Age Club, all in Shippensburg. Rhoda enjoyed reading books, jig-saw puzzles and traveling.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Swanger who passed away October 13, 1999. One brother and one sister are also deceased.
Rhoda is survived by her companion of 20 years, Harold O’Donnell of Spring Run; two sons, Michael A. Lynch and his wife Annette of Hustontown, and William A. Lynch of Shippensburg; eight siblings, Johannah Hendrix, Ada Wolff, Wilma Jean Hart, Donald Hummer and Wanda Myers, all of Greencastle, Naomi Mason and Lewis Hummer, both of Chambersburg and Dennis Hummer of Crystal River, FL; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held privately.
