Obituary for Randy Eugene Baer

Randy Eugene Baer, age 58, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a hardworking husband, Dad and Papa, who took very seriously his job to provide for and take care of his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Randy was born on February 15, 1964 in Chambersburg, PA to Harold E. “Sonny” Baer and the late Janice (Wiser) Baer. He married the love of his life, Tammy (Forrester) Baer on December 10, 1981. He was a dedicated dad to the late Deena Tice, Randi Lee (Baer) Weist (husband Zach), Amanda Baer (Jamie), and Wesley Baer (wife Ami). His passing leaves an especially huge hole for his grandchildren: Dakota Weist, Emma, Carter, and Nathan Tice, Cayden Weist, Gavin Baer, Adyson Johns, Weston and Raegan Baer, and Matthew “Paco” Johnson. In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister, Rita (Matt) Wolfe, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother and Deena, he is preceded in death by two siblings (at birth) Michael and Tammy.
After graduating from CASHS in 1982, Randy farmed for a few years before he found his joy in life as a truck driver. He was a big truck mechanic and drove truck for 35+ years, including bull hauling for the late Jeff Craig, and driving dump trucks for Affordable Excavating. He and his wife, Tam, founded Baer’s Garden Center in 1998 and later expanded the family business to include Baer’s trucking business.

Randy was an exceptionally hard worker and was known for his enterprising spirit. He was an avid fan of history, especially the Civil War era, and enjoyed being part of the 13th Virginia Co. I reenactors. He was a member of the Big Spring Lodge #361 Free & Accepted Masons, Scottish Rights-32nd degree, and Valley Forest #145 Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Randy loved swimming, boating, jet skiing, and camping at Raystown Lake and his family will always cherish times at the family cabin for Friday Family Fun Nights. If Randy was still here, his advice to everyone would be to “Keep on Truckin’.”

A celebration of Randy’s life will take place at a later date.
