Obituary for Nellie Daisy Staver (Jones)
Nellie Daisy Staver, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Saturday, January 27, 1940 in Orrstown, she was a daughter of the late Merle Jones and the late Emma Weaver Jones Rice.
Nellie was a graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School.
She was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. She retired in 2002 from the Shippensburg School District where she worked as a cook with 20 years of service. Earlier in her life she worked as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg with 10 years of service.
She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, reading, gardening, puzzles, card games and her favorite was enjoying hunting and the outdoors with her family.
Nellie is survived by two sons, James H. (wife Stacy) Staver, III, Shippensburg and Kenneth R. (wife Jennifer) Staver, New Oxford; five grandchildren, Shannon, Leah, Janelle, James H. Staver IV; and Erick Staver; one sister, Pat Bowman, Dublin, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Herman Staver, Jr., who passed away September 15, 2009 and three sisters, Joan Ryder, Jane Wilson and Grace Weaver.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with Pastor John W. Shadle officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Street United Brethren Church, 17 North Penn Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257, Branch Creek Place, 115 North Fayette Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257, or Boy Scout Troup # 127, 6084 West Canal Road, Abbottstown, PA 17301.
