Obituary for Nancy Ann Furry

Nancy Ann Furry, 64, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Thursday, November 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. She passed away peacefully at her home, where she wanted to spend the final weeks of her life, to face the end of her life in a very dignified and graceful manner.

She was born on February 23, 1958, in Chambersburg, a daughter of Ann (Barner) Furry and the late Charles Oscar Furry, Jr.

Nancy worked as an occupational therapy assistant for the Lincoln Intermediate Unit for many years. Her job working with children, whom she treated as her own, was supremely fulfilling to Nancy. She was very dedicated to the mission, of being able to teach and to help them learn and grow and consequently touched so many of the children’s and their family’s lives.

Nancy was known to be very hospitable, kind, and considerate, always looking out for others wellbeing it seemed. She was extremely family oriented and enjoyed nothing more so than having everyone around to gather and partake in a delicious meal. Nancy enjoyed many trips and vacations with family and friends. She also liked to be outdoors, gardening, and sometimes fishing.

In addition to her mother, Ann, she is survived by two sisters, Amy Spotts and Beth Loftus and husband Tim both of Shippensburg; five nieces and nephews, Brooke Loftus, Amber Myers and husband Joe, Arielle Spotts, Brandon Loftus, and Emily Loftus; and two great nieces and one great nephew, Hailey, Emily, and Blake Loftus.

In addition to her father, Nancy was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Mike Coldsmith.
Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice.
