She was born on Tuesday, February 19, 1929 in Southampton Township, Cumberland County, a daughter of the late Lester M. and Jean M. (Sowers) Wadel. She married Clyde E. Holtry on December 29, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2018.

Louise was a 1946 graduate of the Shippensburg High School. In her early years, Louise worked as a secretary for D.N. Powell Insurance Agency. She attended Shippensburg State College, focusing on elementary education for two years before starting a family. Later, her and her husband worked as custodians at Messiah United Methodist Church. Louise was a longtime member of the Shippensburg Town Band and loved to read, listen to music, and play the clarinet. She loved taking pictures of anything and everything, and always had a camera in her hand. Above all else, she loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Messiah United Methodist Church. She touched many lives through Sunday School and nursery, both for over 40 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean M. (Willis) Redding of Collegeville, and Gail L. Holtry of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Scott L. (Rebecca) Redding, Brian P. (Jessica) Redding, Laura A. Deihl, and Sarah M. (Joshua) Faison; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Audrey, Sebastian, and Cora; and two siblings, Doreen Holtry and Patsy Clever.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol A. Holtry and Kay E. Deihl; four sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
