Obituary for Leroy George "Buzz" Martin
Leroy George “Buzz” Martin, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at UPMC St. Margaret’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born Saturday, May 11, 1940 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late John D. and Blanch E. Holtry Martin.
Buzz was a 1958 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Buzz was a past member of the Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg.
He retired from the Parklanes Bowling Alley in Shippensburg. Buzz was a life member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 and a member of the Minutemen of the American Legion and a Post Commander. He was a Post member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, and past Business Manager of the Shippensburg American Legion Baseball.
He is survived by one brother, Charles H. “Whitey” (wife Dena) Martin, Shippensburg; one nephew, Ben (wife Bree) Martin, Dillsburg; one niece, Nikki (husband Scott) Runshaw, Shippensburg; two great nieces, Mikayla Runshaw, Shippensburg, and Carissa Martin, Salisbury, MD; and one great nephew, Logan Martin, Carlisle, PA.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion, Post #223, 100 Dykeman Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
