Obituary for John I. Ott

John I. Ott, 67, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at his home.

He was born on November 20, 1954, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Ira L. and Kathleen E. (Furry) Ott.

Throughout his life John worked in construction, lawn care, as a roofer, and was currently employed at Superior Harness Co., Chambersburg.

In his free time he enjoyed being outdoors and going hunting. John liked to watch NASCAR and especially football and was a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Throughout his life, John always enjoyed the companionship of his dogs; rottweilers and shepherds were his two favorite breeds. He also liked to spend time with his family and friends who seemed to be always stopping by.

John is survived by two sisters, Joan E. Varner and husband Ken of Newville and Kathy A. Jardine and husband Dennis of Carlisle; two nieces, Dawn Jardine and husband Trent Brooks and Jacquelyn Burchfield and husband Michael, all of Carlisle; two great nieces, Lillian and Kimber, both of Carlisle; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Michael L. Ott.

His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the West Pennsboro Township Park for family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to any worthy charity for the benefit of dogs or those with cancer.
