Obituary for Jerry A. Thompson
Jerry Allen Thompson, 53, of Chambersburg, departed this life on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on February 3, 1968, in Chambersburg, a son of Ralph E. and Bertha L. (Leedy) Thompson.
Jerry spent the majority of his career employed at Martin’s Pastries, most recently being employed at Gates Corporation, both of Chambersburg. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, and with his family, and woodworking. Jerry enjoyed crafting furniture and making wooden crafts for family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of twenty years, Phyllis D. (Bumbaugh) Thompson; two children, DaKarra Bowman and husband Justin of Spring Run, and J T Thompson of Shippensburg; two step-children, Amy Holtry and husband William II of Roxbury, and Leroy Beitzel of Chambersburg; two step-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Joshua Holtry; his twin brother, Terry Thompson and wife Tina of Shippensburg; and his sister, Diane Richardson and husband John of Shippensburg.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer and Grace Thompson and Elmer and Ada Leedy.
His graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Pastor John Shadle will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation prior to Jerry’s service at the cemetery on Thursday morning.
