Obituary for Jeffrey Eugene Showaker

Jeffrey Eugene Showaker, 64, of Shippensburg, departed this life peacefully in his home on the morning of Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Born Friday, November 20, 1959, he was a son of the late Eugene and Arlene (Fickes) Showaker. He married Karen A. Zullinger in 1996 at the Palmstown Church in Newville.

Jeffrey was a 1977 graduate of Big Spring High School. He spent the majority of his life on the farm working as a tractor repair and restoration technician. Early in life, he helped on the family farm. He worked at Carlisle Farm Service for some time selling tractors and equipment. In 1987 he started his own business Showaker’s IH Sales and Restoration. He was a former member of the Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers for some time and was a member of the Centerville Lutheran Church where he attended.

In his free time, Jeffrey enjoyed working on and restoring International Harvester and Farmall tractors, building car and truck models, restoring Mustangs, and driving his wife Karen, nuts. Overall, he was very mechanically inclined and worked well with his hands. He also made numerous memories with his family and friends as they traveled all over the United States.

In addition to his wife of 27 years, Karen, he is survived by one daughter, Liz Wright and husband Kyle Hess of Lake Junaluska, NC; one grandchild, Cameron Hess; three sisters, Judy Linton of Carlisle, Nancy Smith and husband Jack of Carlisle, and Linda Pretz and husband Ira Spills of Pittsburgh.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Showaker.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Mike Faust will officiate. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, January 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
