Obituary for Jeffrey S. "Jeff" Craig

Jeffrey S. Craig, 69, of Shippensburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

He was born on Monday, April 9, 1951 in Chambersburg, a son of the late Wayne F. and Loretta M. (Hershey) Craig, Sr.

Jeff graduated from the Shippensburg High School in 1969 and attended Washington & Jefferson College. He then went on to join his father and brother in operating the family business of Wayne F. Craig & Sons Livestock. Jeff purchased Greencastle Livestock Market in 1985, was the owner of Craig’s Livestock Transfer and G.L.M. Stables, and was the acting president of the Shippensburg Community Fair Association. Jeff was dedicated to helping others and the organizations in which he belonged.

Jeff was a very successful businessman and was very well known and liked within the community. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and especially loved staying at his mountain home, “The Bullshipper Lodge” where he would ride through the mountain on his mountain buggy. Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed traveling, anywhere from hunting on top of a mountain to sitting on a sandy beach on an island.

He was a member of the Orrstown Lodge #262 Free & Accepted Masons, Orrstown Patriotic Order Sons of America, Valley Forest #145 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Loyal Order of Moose #842, Chambersburg, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168, Minnequa Social Club #375, Hub City Club, Shippensburg Investment Group, and the Livestock Marketing Association.

He is survived by his fiancé and companion of 31 years, Pamela D. McNew; one daughter, Jordan F. Kissinger; one sister, Susan R. (Christopher) Fisher; two step children, Chad M. (Karen) McNew and Ami M. (Wesley) Baer; and five grandchildren, Weston Baer, Landen McNew, Raegan Baer, MaKenna McNew, and Christopher Gregory, Jr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne F. Craig, Jr. who passed away on July 16, 2020.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tall Timbers Park, 3159 Orrstown Road, Orrstown, PA 17244 with Pastor Murray Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Tall Timbers Park, with Masonic Rites bestowed at 7:00 p.m.
