Obituary for Janet L. Besore (Ruth)
Janet L. (Ruth) Besore, 87, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at her home.
She was born on Tuesday, December 31, 1935 in Newburg, a daughter of the late William and Mildred E. (Drexler) Ruth, Sr. She married Gerald E. Besore on April 19, 1957 in the Messiah United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1999.
Janet retired as a secretary in 1996 from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot. Previously, she had worked at Valley Mutual Insurance Company for over 18 years. Janet had been attending the King Street Church, Chambersburg since 1998. She was an avid dog lover, especially her own dog, Toby.
She is survived by one brother, William Ruth, Jr. of Chambersburg; six sisters, Evelyn Kauffman of Carlisle, Mary Rosenberry of Shippensburg, Emma Jane (David) Kuhn of Mt. Holly, Martha (Gerry) Rotz-Tatem of Dillsburg, Margaret (James) Springer of Shippensburg, and Linda Edmondson of York Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and spouse, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Besore; one brother, John Robert Ruth; and one sister, Susan Briggs.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor Ron Cook officiating. There will be no public viewing or visitation at this time.
