Obituary for James Albert Warren Jr.

James Albert Warren, Jr., 81, of Shippensburg, died early on the morning of January 23, 2023, in Fresno, CA, where he had been living with his daughter for the last two months.

Jim was born in Shippensburg, PA on December 2, 1941, to Dorothy Sollenberger Warren and James A. Warren, Sr. Jim met Nancy B. Frey as a young man and married her in August of 1963.

He spent his young adulthood working as a carpenter for Karper Builders, then Billman Builders, self-employed for a short time, and finally for R.S. Mowery until retirement. He built many homes in Shippensburg, Carlisle, and the surrounding areas. His longer projects include Hershey Park, Hershey Medical Center, nursing homes on both the East and West shore of Harrisburg, finishing work at Bucknell University auditorium, as well as projects in Mechanicsburg. He also was a finisher for Old Main at Shippensburg University. He won a craftsman award from Mechanicsburg Business Association for the new R.S. Mowery Headquarters.

He was a member of Shippensburg Fish & Game, the NRA, and the Cumberland County Bassmasters Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 42 years, and his companion of 15 years, Jean Watson.

He is survived by his sisters and their families: Christine Warren Heagy of Atlanta, GA, and Pamela Warren Fogelsonger of Indiana, PA. He is also survived by his two children. Jim’s daughter Tracy L. Warren Cruz of Fresno, CA, her husband, Cary, and their five children, Holly Ann (26), Ellen Marie (24), Matthew James (22) and his wife Riley, Andrew Joseph (20), and Christopher David (18); and Jim’s son, Eric, his first wife, Donna Hall, and their daughter, Georgia Hall Warren (22); and his second wife, Stephanie Klein Warren, and their four children, Fischer Samuel (11), Sawyer James (10), Saylor Anne (8), and River Scott (6).

Jim was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He will be lovingly and greatfully remembered and greatly missed.

His visitation will be Friday, March 24 at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home from 5-7 pm. His funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 25, at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church at 11 am, with Father Ben Dunkelberger officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
