Obituary for James L. "Jim" Nehf

James L. “Jim” Nehf, 91, of Chambersburg and formerly of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Providence Place of Chambersburg.

Born Sunday, October 6, 1929 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Lester A. and Mary Myrtle Foreman Nehf.

Jim was a 1947 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg.
Jim worked at Miller-Reed Dairy in Shippensburg and later retired in 1984 from Washington National Insurance Company as an Insurance Salesman.

He was a life member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg. He loved riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, tying his own fishing flies, and traveling around the country alongside his wife in their RV.

Surviving are two sons, Scott A. (Cenith) Nehf, Shippensburg and Eric J. (Gladys) Nehf, St Leonard, MD; three grandchildren, David Nehf, Valerie Nehf, and Nathan (Kellie) Nehf; three great grandchildren, Vincent , Lillian, and Nicholas Nehf; two nieces, Wilma Sychak and Kathy Rotz; and one nephew, Rich Rotz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet R. Nehf who passed away on October 23, 2014. Also preceding him in death is one brother John Nehf.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Lutheran Church with Rev. Pamela J. Carnes officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
