Obituary for Gloria V. "Peach" Asper
Gloria “Peach” Asper, 78, of Newburg, passed away on May 8, 2023.
Gloria was born on June 11, 1944, in Mercersburg to the late Arthur E. and Violet C. (Gallagher) Ashway.
After graduating from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1962, Gloria worked at the former Valley Bank in Chambersburg. Gloria married her husband Jesse in 1968 and later went on to become a farm wife.
The single most important thing in life to Gloria was family and friends, whom she loved dearly. She always took time, looking out and caring for them in any way she could as they navigated through life’s challenges. She consistently placed the needs of others before her own.
Gloria loved animals, was an avid and talented gardener, and a wonderful cook. She was also a person of strong faith and an active member of Otterbein United Methodist church for many years.
Gloria is survived by her husband Jesse; two children, Jesse II (wife Laurie) and Kelly; and one grandchild, Jesse III.
Gloria is also survived by siblings Arthur Ashway, Blaine Ashway, Joyce Traxler, Roger Ashway, Sharon Hartlaub, and April Ashway-Railing.
In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Kemper, and a brother, Carl Ashway.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Newburg. Pastor Bruce Levy will officiate. Interment will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery. There will be no public viewing or visitation prior to Gloria’s funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 15634 Paxton Run Rd., Newburg, PA 17240.
