Obituary for Elaine J. Weidman (Boltz)

Elaine J. Weidman, 67, of Newburg, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Sprenkle Drive, York.

She was born on February 8, 1953, in Frystown, Bucks Co., PA, a daughter of Lillie (Saul) Boltz and Alvin Boltz and married Larry E. Weidman on November 10, 1983.

Elaine worked as a seamstress throughout her life. She operated and alteration and clothing adaptation business out of her home and could do just about anything with a sewing machine. Elaine also worked at the Branch Creek Senior Center, Shippensburg, where she was very active; cooking, crafting, and helping with fund raisers.

Along with being a seamstress, Elaine was also an expert quilter. She always had at least one quilt that she would be working on. Elaine was quite well known for her quilts because of the fact that she actually gave most of them away to help many different charities or people in need. Elaine was a wonderful homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother, and enjoyed helping with the animals on her family’s farm. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Newburg.

In addition to her husband of thirty-seven years, Larry, she is survived by seven children, Michele Clagett and husband Art of Lebanon, Melanie Reich and husband Andy of Winfield, Matt Sholley of Shippensburg, Keith Weidman of Shippensburg, Melissa Sullivant and husband Kevin of Jacksonville, FL, Joel Weidman of Newville, and Katie Knowles of St. Thomas; eleven grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, Elaine was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin and Kyle.

Her funeral services, entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, are private at this point in time. There will be a public graveside memorial service at a future date and time. Elaine will be laid to rest along-side her two sons in the Otterbein Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
