Obituary for Doris R. Coleman
Doris R. Coleman, 91, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the evening of Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on December 28, 1930, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late George E. and Zora A. (Nehf) Rhinehart. She married Richard N. “Dick” Coleman on August 31, 1952. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2016.
Doris was a homemaker throughout her life. In her free time she enjoyed reading and crafting. Doris was also somewhat a casual bird watcher, always on the lookout for the hummingbirds and cardinals. She was a longtime member of the Zion Reformed Church of Christ, Chambersburg.
Doris is survived by her son, Todd A. Coleman of Fayetteville; one daughter, Barbara A. Metcalfe and husband Denny of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Rhinehart of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by a daughter, LuAnn Rosenberger; six brothers, George, Ray, Jay, Harold, William, and Marlin Rhinehart; and four sisters, Beatrice Newell, Catherine Rhine, Betty Rhinehart, and Joan Serino.
Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Zion Reformed Church of Christ, Chambersburg. Pastor Tom Dunkle will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday afternoon at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Reformed Church of Christ at 259 South Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or a favorite charity of one’s choice.
