Obituary for Dorie Jean Rife (Reath)
Dorie Jean (Reath) Rife, 84, of Chambersburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on July 15, 1938 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late William F. and Ruth (Witter) Reath.
Dorie was a member of the Amvets Post #224 and VFW Post #1599, both of Chambersburg. In her spare time, she enjoyed creating flower arrangements, which her friends and family greatly admired.
She is survived by her two sons, Harold L. (Penny) Armstrong, Jr. of Camp Hill and Tim W. (Lisa) Armstrong of Mechanicsburg; two step-children, Bruce (Angie) Rife of Fayetteville and Marcia (James) Whitmore of Chambersburg; and four grandchildren, Madison Armstrong of Mechanicsburg, Drew Rife of Fayetteville, and Jeremy and Jessica Whitmore of Chambersburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Lloyd Armstrong, Sr.; second husband, Herbert D. Rife; and four siblings, Robert C. Reath, Louise M. Short, Helen E. Martin, and James C. Reath.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. There will be no public viewing.
