Obituary for Donna Rose Rotz (Barnhart)
Donna Rose Rotz, 84, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Forest Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle.
Born Sunday, September 19, 1937 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Edna J. Sterett Barnhart.
Donna was a 1956 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. She graduated from LPN Nursing School in 1957. Donna put her career on hold to raise her children, and then returned to nursing at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle. She retired in 1996 after 20 years of service.
She enjoyed crafting, craft shows, shuffleboard, making spool dolls, which she made over 900 dolls, camping with her family, and she has been to every state in the continental U.S. including spending winters in Arizona and Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Elwood D. Rotz of Carlisle, whom she married June 29, 1957; five children, Douglas E. Rotz, Carlisle, Melody A. (husband Todd) Schell, Stella, NC, Michael J. (wife Gina) Rotz, Harrisburg, Beth M. (husband Greg) Hench, Boiling Springs, and Susan E. (husband Terry) Hughes, Carlisle; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with Pastor Ken Hoke, and Pastor Greg Hench officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
