Obituary for Donna Lee Helm (Stark)
Donna Lee (Stark) Helm, 82, of Shippensburg, peacefully went to be with the Lord the afternoon of Friday, September 30, 2022 with her two sons by her side.
She was born on October 21, 1939 in Sarver, PA, the daughter of the late William Russell and Mildred (Anthony) Stark.
Donna was a 1957 graduate of the Shippensburg High School where she participated in the color guard and worked at the Varsity Shop. After high school, she worked at The Treat Restaurant, was a seamstress for the Stanley Company, and more recently worked in the cafeteria at the Shippensburg Area Middle School. Donna was also an active member of the Ridge Church of the Brethren.
She was very dedicated to her physical fitness and diet and enjoyed working out at the Chambersburg Fitness Center. Donna was a good daughter to her parents, devoted wife to her husband, and a loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was respected by her entire family and will be missed.
She is survived by her two sons, Travis J. (Lisa) Helm and Dr. Kerry W. (Lessa) Helm; six grandchildren, Schuyler Helm, Emily (Steven) Yelton, Abby Helm, Skye Bingaman, Grace (Kyle) Whisler, and Faith Helm; and six great-grandchildren, Claire, Isaac, Lillian, Sophia, Johnathon, and Kyrie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Wayne Helm, who passed away on February 10, 2006. Also preceding her in death is one son, Matthew Helm; and one brother, Sherman Stark.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ridge Church of the Brethren with Pastor Leon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridge Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Orrstown Personal Care Home and Ruth Garling with Residential Hospice for the outstanding love and care they gave to Donna.
