Obituary for Delores J. Stouffer

Delores J. Stouffer, 79, formerly of Roxbury, late of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Friday, July 22, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 7, 1943, in Cleversburg, a daughter of the late Wilbur T. and Mary M. (Helm) Kelso, Sr. Delores married Harold E. Stouffer on November 25, 1961. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2000.

Delores worked at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, for twenty nine years, retiring as a presser. She attended the Lurgan United Brethren Church, was a member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168 Ladies Auxiliary, and a life member of the L.S.L Sportsman’s Association.

In her free time Delores liked to read romance novels, craft, play BINGO, and was known to cheat when playing cards. She also really enjoyed going to watch races at the Path Valley Speedway. Among her family members it was well known that if they came by for a visit, she would most likely send them home with some type of food item. Family was most important to Delores and she tried to take good care and spend as much time as she could with them.

She is survived by four children, Timothy Stouffer of Chambersburg, Barbara Wright and husband Douglas of Shippensburg, Cathy Hunter and companion Chris Rollins of Newburg, and Lisa Stouffer of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren, Andrew (Heather), Tara (Derrick), Wayne (Barb), Shianne, Cody, Ashley (Jesse), and Derek; twelve great grandchildren, Natalie, Tray, Addison, Landyn, Ayden, Abbie, Makenna, Kaylie, Zach, Malakiah, Kalia, and Amari; two brothers, Gary Kelso of South Carolina and Brian Kelso of Newburg; four sisters, Wanda Dunlap of Chambersburg, Pat Atkins of Orrstown, Sharon Baer of Newburg, and Mary Rotz of State Line; a sister-in-law, Marsha Kelso of Greencastle; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Delores was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Stouffer; four brothers; three sisters; and a sister-in-law, Doris Rine, who was also her best friend.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Delores’ graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 29, 2022, in the Lurgan Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray her final expenses.
