Obituary for Constance Lee "Connie" Blackhurst

Constance Lee “Connie” Blackhurst, 73, of Shippensburg, late a resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville, departed this life on the evening of Sunday, November 27, 2022.

She was born on October 12, 1949, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Earl H. and Tressa (Varner) Baer. Connie was a 1967 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School. She was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971.

Connie worked at the Letterkenny Army Depot for over twenty-five years, retiring as a clerk in 2014. In her free time she enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and just about any genre of movie (she especially loved horror movies), and reading. Connie was known to be a wonderful cook and excellent baker, full course breakfasts were one of her specialties. She also took great pride in keeping a neat and tidy home.

Connie is survived by her son, Tobey A. Blackhurst of Shippensburg; her daughter, Lisa E. Glennon and husband Robert of Lonoke, AR; three grandchildren, Brett A. Blackhurst and Kristi Fry, both of Shippensburg, and Amy E. Glennon of Lonoke, AR; two sisters, Judith Wenger and husband Ed and Deirdre “Dee” Nehf and husband Kenny, both of Newburg; one brother, Bruce Baer and wife Gerry of Willow Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service. Connie will be laid to rest in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
