Obituary for Constance L. "Connie" Costilow
Constance L. “Connie” Costilow, 85, of Newville, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on August 23, 1937, in Harrisburg, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Williams. Her father passed away from black lung when she was a small child.
Connie worked in food service at Shippensburg University for many years. She enjoyed playing BINGO in her spare time.
Connie was known to many as a joyful soul. She was kind, caring, giving, and had a wonderful outgoing personality. Connie was one to make friends very easily and the type of person who never met a stranger. Over time or sometimes very quickly she became like a grandmother to many. Even people who she just met she could make feel that way. Connie enjoyed family gatherings. She and her son Jim had a very special bond, more so as best friends, than the normal mother and son relationship.
Connie is survived by her son, James M. Costilow and companion Tiffany Lewis of Shippensburg; one sister, Betty Olson of Enola; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service at this time. Interment will also be private.
