Obituary for Bonita L. Jones
Bonita L. Jones, 84, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Monday, February 13, 2023, at Chambersburg Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on March 18, 1938, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Edward B. and Martha (Funk) Wolff. Bonita married Roger P. Jones, Sr., on November 26, 1955. He preceded her in death in September of 1970.
Bonita worked as a seamstress at many of the former local area garment factories for over twenty-five years. She was a longtime and very active member of the Shippensburg First Church of God.
In her free time, Bonita enjoyed being outdoors and doing yardwork around her home. She also enjoyed cooking and loved to look forward to hosting her family functions.
She is survived by five children, Cheryl L. Jones, Roger P. Jones, Jr., Lorrie A. Harglerode and husband Gary, Dennis E. Jones, and Mark A. Jones, all of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Kaila Kunzic, Zachary Jones, Lauren Harglerode, Dalton Jones, Ann Marie Gingrich, and Sara Jones; five great grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy N. Long of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bonita was preceded in death by her brother, Bennett.
Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A graveside funeral service, in the Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, will be planned in the future.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choice in Bonita’s name.
