Obituary for Betty K. Hoover

Betty K. Hoover, 82, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Brookview Heath Care Center.

She was born on February 15, 1939 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late George W. and Elizabeth (Mull) Shields.

Betty worked various jobs in cleaning service, and had more recently been a cafeteria worker at the Shippensburg Middle School. She enjoyed collecting angels and loved her grandchildren. Betty was a member of the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren and was in the Ladies Auxiliary at the South Newton Township Volunteer Fire Company.

She is survived by three daughters, Roxanne L. (Jim) Wenger, Lisa R. Mellott, and Sherann E. Hoover; one son, Johnny R. Edwards; four grandchildren, Rachele Wenger, James (Sierra) Wenger, Travis (Ashley Lynn) Mellott, and Matthew (Jenee) Holtry; one sister, Cricket Thompson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard L. “Dutch” Hoover, and her second husband, Irvin W. Bowers, Jr. Also preceding her in death are her foster parents, Leroy and Vera McKelvey.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., with Pastor Jonathan Bream officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
