Obituary for Barbara Jean Rhine (Koser)

Barbara Jean “Jeanie” (Koser) Rhine, 81, of Shippensburg went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Jeanie was born on March 24, 1941 in Shippensburg. She was the daughter of the late Roy E and Margaret (Van Scyoc) Koser.

She graduated from Shippensburg High School and went to work at Beistles and then Cumberland County Courthouse where she served as a supervisor for over 30 years. Jeanie loved being with her family, her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She could often be found painting, crafting, and of course baking a new recipe to just try out.

Jeanie was a member of the Mainsville Church, were she loved to serve others. She gave countless hours at the food stand at Hershey’s auction as a community outreach. Jeanie was always serving others with a grateful and joyful heart. She will be greatly missed by everyone, but her legacy will live on in our hearts.

She is survived by her three children, John Robert Rhine, Mary Jo (Charlie) Suders, and Robert Lee (Lisa) Rhine, Jr.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister Vivian (Koser) Holtry; and sister-in-law Millie Koser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five brothers, Leroy, Donald, Richard, R.Glenn, and John.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Robert Mentzer will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation prior to the service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Elaine, Carly and the entire staff of Orrstown Personal Care home and her Hospice nurse Ruth and the staff at residential hospice for their dedicated and loving care of Jeanie. This care meant so much to the family.
