Obituary for Annie E. Grove (Bert)
Annie E. Grove, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at Menno Haven’s Brookview Health care Center Chambersburg, PA, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Sunday, April 25, 1926 in Shippensburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ezra and Carrie Hock Bert.
She was a 1945 graduate of Messiah Christian Academy. After graduation, Annie married Edgar C. Grove on August 15, 1945 to start a lifetime of farming together.
She was a member of the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, where she taught Sunday school class, and was very active within her church. Annie enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, and quilting.
Annie loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great-great granddaughter. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her and especially her beautiful smile.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce E. Baker, Carlisle, Marlene F. (Joseph) Reese, Shippensburg; three sons, Ronald L. (Nancy) Grove, Newburg, Robert E. (Linda) Grove, and Dennis E. (Virginia) Grove, all of Shippensburg; one sister, Mary Shultz, Chambersburg; and one brother, Alvin Bert, TN; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Edgar C. Grove who passed away June 25, 2017; three brothers, Arthur, David, and James Bert; four sisters, Pauline Mowery, Grace Nye, Martha Vereide, and Naomi Reese; and one son-in-law, Gerald Baker.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. David S. Halteman officiating. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the funeral home.
