Obituary for Aaron C. Ocker

Aaron C. Ocker, Jr., 82, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation, Chambersburg.

He was born on November 2, 1940, in Newburg, a son of the late Aaron G. and Ruth N. (Crider) Ocker, Sr. Aaron married Bonnie M. Bradnick on December 13, 1974. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2010.

Early in life, Aaron worked at the former Clugston Ag and Turf. He spent the majority of his working-life as a truck driver for the former Cumberland Valley Co-Op, retiring in 2005. After retirement, Aaron drove for many of the local area’s Amish families.

He was a longtime member of the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church and was known for his love of ice cream.

Aaron is survived by two daughters, Michele D. Bigler of Chambersburg and Linda L. Ocker of Shippensburg; six siblings, Harvey Ocker, David Ocker, Merle Ocker, Earl Ocker, Erma Diffenderfer, and Ruth Stouffer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and spouse, Aaron was preceded in death by eight siblings, Arthur, John, Wayne, Walter, James, and Lista Ocker, Helen Gelsinger, and Catherine Mills.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, Newburg. Pastor’s David S. Halteman and Darrell L. Potteiger will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday morning at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., to help defray funeral expenses.
